CECIMO, as the European association of the Machine Tool Industries and related Manufacturing Technologies, including additive manufacturing, was requested by the European Commission to address its membership and ask if it would be able to aid in producing equipment (for instance, valves or ventilators) that hospitals are lacking, due to the COVID19 outbreak in Europe. Consequently, CECIMO has decided to expand the call for action to all companies, urging everybody who has the possibility to do so, to assist the needs of hospitals all over Europe.
While CECIMO is continuing to collect information from the interested companies via the form at its website, coordinating the industry’s action with the European Commission, it is also now possible for companies to send their offers of help direct to the Commission’s European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations department (ECHO), the central gathering point for industry offers: EU-COVID19-OFFERS-TO-ERCC@ec.europa.eu
The commission has also made available a new webpage of the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP): THE COVID-19 INDUSTRIAL CLUSTERS RESPONSE PORTAL: https://www.clustercollaboration.eu/coronavirus
The portal has been created to facilitate the interaction of the industrial cluster community to allow fast and direct responses within the community itself too. Its objective is twofold:
- Serve as a one-stop shop where reliable information for industry, and especially industrial clusters, can be found on actions and decisions of the European Commission and the EU Member States impacting on the functioning of the Internal Market.
- Support an open discussion forum where actors can share their experiences, solutions, requests and questions
All industry actors are welcome to channel their information, requests, and solutions in the open forum of the portal.
The Manufacturing Technologies Associuation, the UK's manufacturing technology supplier representative organisation, is a member of CECIMO.
